Land Acknowledgement:

Indigenous women traditionally gave birth on the same land as their mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers. Birthing was a collective responsibility of the community with other women playing significant midwifery roles.

We, of the CDA, would like to take this opportunity to recognize the historical role of (birth) support for Indigenous and non indigenous birthers, and acknowledge the  traditional territories of  the Indigenous peoples of the Treaty 7 region, the Métis Settlements and Métis Nation of Alberta, Regions 3, where we are meeting today. We respect the histories, languages, and cultures of First Nations, Metis, Inuit, of Canada, whose presence continues to enrich our community.  We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on.

Disclaimer: The Calgary Doula Association is not an accrediting body but a society of independently employed Doulas. We do not claim responsibility for any actions of the members of the organization.
