Scholarship Opportunities
For Birth & Postpartum Training in Alberta
We are committed to making birth and postpartum training accessible to individuals from diverse and underrepresented communities. This scholarship program is aimed at supporting residents of Calgary (and surrounding areas) who are passionate about pursuing birth work and client care training.
About the Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance for birth and/or postpartum training, as well as workshops held within Alberta. These programs are designed for members of the Calgary Doula Association (CDA), those wishing to join the CDA after completing their training, or those who need assistance joining the CDA.
The aim of the scholarship is to empower individuals from underrepresented communities to enter the field of birth work and provide much-needed support to families who face unique challenges navigating healthcare systems.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applicants from underrepresented communities, including those who identify as:
2SLGBTQIA+
Individuals with disabilities
Single parents facing barriers
People experiencing financial hardships
Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC)
In addition to identifying with one of the above communities, applicants must also demonstrate:
An aptitude for birth work and client care
A genuine passion for helping others during birth and postpartum stages
A desire to serve clients and families within these underrepresented communities, or similar populations
We value individuals who bring their own lived experiences and understand the challenges faced by underserved communities. By using this intimate understanding, applicants will help others navigate healthcare systems where these communities are often marginalized.
